Main Hiking Trail Spessart

From Gemünden via Adelsberg and Gambach to Karlstadt

First walk above the Gemünden path along the Main until you reach the shelter. There you continue walking in a north-easterly direction, cross the Franconian Saale at the Saale bridge and soon reach the Scherenburg ruins, one of the best-known sights in the Main-Spessart region. After a detour through a residential area, you reach a forest path that takes you further via the grotto to Adelsberg. From there, the trail goes downhill to Wernfeld. After a few bends, you finally reach the Karlstadt district of Gambach. Pass the music hall and enter the forest. The steepest ascent of the tour follows, but it is worth it because once you reach the top you can look out over the vineyards of the Main Valley. Perfect for a romantic picnic! Afterwards, you hike further uphill to a nature reserve with orchids and an otherwise magical plant world. Afterwards, it's almost all downhill to Karlstadt, from where you can take a bus back to Gemünden.
